Cynthia Shahan, M.D.

 

Dr. Shahan earned her B.S. degree from Meredith College and her M.D. from East Carolina University School of Medicine.  She completed her General Psychiatry residency training as well as her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina. 

 

Dr. Shahan is is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General Psychiatry.  She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the North Carolina Psychiatric Association and the North Carolina Medical Society.

Dr. Shahan joined Eastover Psychiatric Group in 1994 and has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in outpatient, inpatient, and residential settings.  

 

Dr. Shahan specializes in treating Mood Disorders, including Bipolar Disorder and Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.  She has a special interest in women's issues including postpartum and perimenopausal depression.
